Our birth, our vision and our mission

The Upper Room RGV is a new church formed out of a prayer meeting which began in 2010, led by its founders, James and Jan Keller. They committed to following God’s direction, seeking a sign that would confirm His will. The sign was that a pastor would give them the keys to the sanctuary. The very next Monday, Pastor Trevor Carpenter reached out to them and offered them the keys to the sanctuary for the Tuesday Night Prayer. This moment marked the birthing of P.U.S.H. which stands for Pray Until Something Happens!

Our Tuesday Night services lasted until 2019, when the Covid pandemic forced us to suspend all church meetings.

In 2020, as many churches were still closed, Joseph De Leon and Romeo Gonzalez, approached James Keller about starting new meetings with Pastor Clark Ortiz at Center Church in Pharr, Texas. This led to meeting and praying together with Pastor Clark and his wife Lisa. After many prayerful discussions, it was decided to launch new gatherings in the upper room of Center Church, which was previously used for youth. This led to renaming our Tuesday night prayer from P.U.S.H. to The Upper Room RGV.

Our gatherings focus on worship, preaching, teaching, testimonies, altar calls, prayer calls, Signs, Wonders and Miracles at the altar. Our Altar ministry includes laying on of hands, anointing with oil, commissioning men and women into the ministry the Lord has called them to. We also support the homeless, orphans, widows and assist children in need of education. The ministry of The Upper Room RGV actively supports, blesses, gives, and prays for churches on both sides of the border from Laredo to Brownsville.

Our church operates in the fivefold ministry, with the gifts given by Jesus to the church in Ephesians chapter 4. This new apostolic wine skin includes prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. Training all people of the congregation to be ministers and developing their gifts. Until we come into the unity of the faith.

Our ministry is to reach the region from Laredo to Brownsville on both sides of the Rio Grande to help take back the territory and bring the Kingdom of God on earth as in Heaven. We are believing God for an Apostolic center which will be used to teach, train, and send ministry teams to be a blessing throughout this region. We want to be a blessing to all churches in the region and we have helped several over the last 14 years.

The vision was a hub which had 10 spokes that reached out to 10 cities as seen in Mark 5:1-20 where revival broke out in 10 cities.
